This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Please welcome Aliza into the RAGOM family! She has actually been with RAGOM since late March and has been lovingly cared for by another foster. We were lucky enough to be chosen to be her permanent foster and she arrived at our house last week.

Aliza was born at a breeding operation and was going to become a breeder dog. When she was unable to have puppies, the breeders contacted RAGOM and asked if we would care for her and find her a good home.

What a sweetheart this girl is! She is almost 5 years old. She weighs about 68 lbs. which seems to be a good weight for her. We have fostered several former breeder girls and Aliza is far more socialized than any of the others we have cared for. She walks around with a smile on her face. She greets visitors at the door with her tail wagging. She takes treats gently from any and all humans she meets. Walking is one of her favorite activities. We are treated to her wiggly dance whenever she sees us getting ready for a walk. She needs some work, but generally walks pretty well with just a flat (martingale) collar. She has fit right in with our pack [Resident Dog Harley (12 years old) and Foster Girl Sandy (11 years old)]. She has shown us that she knows “sit,” but not other commands. She is developing good recall and she will come trotting up to us for pets and scritchies and loves to give doggie kisses.

Aliza went to our vet for a wellness exam on Tuesday. She is all up-to-date on shots, her fecal sample checked out fine, her ears were clean, and she is scheduled for spay surgery later this month. She has already won the hearts of the vets and staff. She passed all of the physical evaluations with flying colors. We took her to the groomers at Petco in St. Cloud today. They all fell in love with her. In spite of the dogs, the noise of the blow drier, and the general chaos, they said that she behaved as well as some of the best dogs they work with and that she was welcome back anytime.

We’ve had rain and thunderstorms almost every night this past week. She gets a bit concerned with the worst of the thunder claps, but a quick visit to FM or FD for a reassuring pat on the head seems to be all she needs and she will head back to her dog bed and go back to sleep. She sleeps through a normal night with no problems on a dog bed in our bedroom next to the beds of our other dogs.

There is more to come on this sweet girl. We will update you again soon.
