Profile

Our beautiful Angel arrived at our rural Rochester home on Wednesday, March 7, to become a member of the RAGOM family. Angel is a 5-6 year old spayed medium-sized GR with a beautiful reddish gold wavy coat, creamy feathering on her back legs and a plumy tail. She tolerated her bath well and loves to be brushed. Angel and our spoiled resident dog are now getting along fine. He usually does not appreciate the fact that he has to share attention, toys and food with a foster dog. Our two inside cats have gotten used to Angel and are spending more time on the main floor—their only problem with her is that she tries to clean them up too much by licking their face.

Angel’s vet exam deemed her healthy except for several items needing attention: a mild ear infection which now appears to be gone, a dental cleaning might be in her future, and the need to shed some pounds. Because Angel arrived without any health records, her shots have been updated but she needs to go back in three weeks for a distemper combo booster. Her heartworm test was negative!! She will very willingly let you work with her ears for cleaning and drops. Angel has been switched to a high quality grain-free food supplemented with a cup of cooked carrots morning and night in order to help her lose weight. Angel and I are walking around the perimeter of our acreage 4-5 times a day to give her more exercise.

All I can say about Angel is that she is one awesome dog! She has had free roam of the house since her second day here, can be left in the house without anything being disturbed, has never had an accident in the house, leaves the cats alone, and will not stray far from your side. She readily comes when you call her name. Angel came with a harness and walks well with that and also a flat collar. After the initial bucking, she will tolerate the Gentle Leader. She has met dogs of all sizes and does well with the sniffing-smelling program—she likes to meet them slowly. She met one young dog who pawed and jumped in her face which she did not appreciate. She met my 7 and 10-year-old grandchildren and also several smaller children without any problems. Angel would make a great addition to any household—she provides a great deal of love and companionship to us. She is a quiet, happy girl who loves to be near her people. Angel will need a family committed to helping her lose those extra pounds and providing the exercise that goes along with that—plus all the love you can give!
