Barney 07-662 [1]

This is Barney. He is being fostered in Aitkin, MN. He is a male, 11 month old Goldendoodle. Barney came from a puppy mill in Minnesota. He came with a coat loaded with mats and very smelly. He was very scared, and very neglected. I called the groomer after we got home from picking him up, and though they are usually closed on Monday they were gracious enough to clip him on Mon. The groomer said he was a sweetheart while being groomed and showed no aggression at all. What we found out after they cleaned and clipped him was just a disturbing as how he was before. The bottom part of his one ear is gone, either frozen off or bitten off. He is missing two nails on his one paw, and deformed toes on his other paw. He is very skinny; a walking bundle of bones. He will be going to the Vet on Thursday to get up to date on his immunizations and to be scheduled for neuter. Despite being very scared of us and our Golden, he is warming up to all of us. I feed him by hand, and he devours his food. He has been going for short walks and follows really good. The only problem is he has no insulation. His coat is gone and he has no fat or muscle to keep him warm. But we are working on that and in a few weeks he will be looking great. In the mean time I am going to make him a new coat.  Barney loves to be petted, once you can get him to come to you. We will be working on a future for Barney. His past is history. But unfortunately it isn't for the other dogs stuck in puppy mills. I will keep you updated on this guy. He won't demand much from his new home. Exercise, food, love, and warm place to sleep. And maybe another canine friend.
