As of March 17, 2013 the RAGOM Board approved removing the physical fence requirement for adopters of puppy mill dogs. Instead, the foster family will determine whether their foster dog needs a fence to be kept safe.

Bella does NOT need a fence!

Bella still needs another medium-sized dog to give her support, no children under 10 and... a very loving forever family!

A portion of Bella's medical care was paid for by a generous grant from the Golden Retriever Foundation's April Fund

Please welcome Bella to a new life free of the commercial breeding business! She is about 6 years old but seems younger. Bella came from a puppy mill in SD about 10 days ago. She has acclimated pretty quickly from scared frozen girl to coming up for her share of pets and treats. She has met all dogs with ease and no snarls. She also met the neighbor boy-a teenager with little fear. She over came it quickly.
Never having been an indoor dog, all of the noises, smells and stairs are new to her. She has relaxed overall and they do not bother her. She knows the routine of the day. Bella likes to play and was the wrestling companion of my previous foster puppy Dorado. I am sure she misses him as my resident dogs are not nearly as fun!
Bella is struggling to learn that dogs potty outside. As of today, about half of the time the potty is outside. She will get it eventually! Like many puppy mill dogs, she loves to shred soft things. Well, maybe that is a dog thing not exclusive to puppy mills :). We have to keep the socks picked up or we find them with holes in them. A favorite!
Bella came to me in heat so will be spayed in a few weeks. Aside from ear infections she is very healthy and active. Since she came from a puppy mill, Bella will need a physical fence (prone to bolting when scared), no children under 10 (they scare her too) and another medium to large sized dog to teach her that life isn't so scary. Please stay tuned for more on Bella's new life!
