Profile
I'd like to introduce little Miss Bree. She is a 4 year old female Cocker Spaniel/Golden mix. We're estimating her weight to be around 60 pounds. She is short in stature and just a bit too heavy.
Bree is a puppy mill survivor. A family purchased her on eBay from a breeder this past May, 2011. They quickly realized that something was certainly wrong with Bree because she was terrified of most things, including men. The family, with much sadness, surrendered her to RAGOM on September 25th in hopes that she will find just the right home to help her heal from her emotional wounds and learn what it is to be a dog.
We have had Bree for less than 24 hours and she is truly terrified. She hides in the back of her crate, trembling visibly, and will not come out for food or water. She must be carried outside to go potty and carried back in or she will hide in the farthest corner of our yard.
The good news:
- She is gentle and has not shown any signs of agression.
- She appears to like our resident dog and met her without any issues.
- She will occasionally take treats from our hands.
- She has kept her crate clean so far overnight and during our first workday with her.
- Went on an early morning walk with my husband and our dog and did very well. She walks nicely on leash.
- Bree will most likely need a home with another dog and a yard with a physical fence.
She still needs to have an initial vet exam and will need to be spayed before being adopted. It will be a few weeks before she will be available.
There is much more to learn and to share about this very sweet, very frightened girl. We will post frequent updates for everyone who wants to follow.
I apologize for the first picture being a bit hazy. We will try for a better shot soon.
