This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Please welcome Tuffy  who is now known as Buffy, into the RAGOM  family.  Buffy is a PB Golden Retriever, neutered male, 65lbs, five years old and what a beauty!  He came into his foster home just five days ago and we have enjoyed having him here.  Buffy is house trained, crate trained and cat friendly.

Buffy has had a bumpy start to his RAGOM life.   He was taken in by a wonderful foster but it was quickly found out that children make him very anxious and while in the previous foster home he lunged at a young child and it was decided that in order to keep everyone safe he should go to a home without children.  Unfortunately there was not a  foster available so Buffy was boarded for about six. weeks.  Boarding brought on additional anxiety so Buffy  is now living in the peaceful country with three resident dogs, including Buddy/Ben 11-061  and one foster sister Missy/JoJo 13-061 and three cats.  He has a big fenced in yard to run around in, play with a ball and just listen to the frogs, birds and the wind in the trees.

Buffy's background is very sketchy at best.  We only are aware of the last six months of his life.  Each day we find out more about him this is what we know as of today.

Buffy is a beautiful, young, smart dog that has some issues as 99 percent of rescue dogs do.  He is very unsure of new people and will react with fearful barking.  He needs help with his confidence level and to learn that he will not be hurt.  When approached with the leash he will lay down and roll over and show his belly.  While it may look cute he is doing this because he is afraid.  If you raise your hand to pet him on the top of the head he will cower. While we will never know what happened to him we can now control that only good things come from people.

Buffy is learning to walk on a leash and is coming along slowly.  He walks with the pack of dogs on a leash but has difficulty when he is free in the fenced yard.  He does not have any social dog skills and will try and control the other dogs.  For these reasons at this time he needs a home with no children and a physical fence is preferred and an only dog or one very easy going dog.

Buffy's perfect forever family will be committed to taking Buffy to obedience to help his confidence and socialization.  He needs a strong leader to give him boundaries and limitations so he can start to relax and know he does not have to be the protector but will be protected.  Buffy is a loving, squishy gentle dog that also smiles and shows you all his pearly whites.  If you have never seen this please google it because it can look scary but he is just doing what what the Buffster does when he is happy or getting a treat!

If you are an experienced dog person who is up for a real learning experience ,is committed to taking Buffy to classes and have the time to devote to what will be an awesome dog, please contact placement.

Buffy is not a swimmer but a champion wader!
