Introducing Buddy, a 9.5-year-old, neutered, 78-pound, purebred Golden Retriever. Buddy was lovingly surrendered to RAGOM by a family that could no longer give him the time and attention they knew he deserved. He is a young 9, loves to play, wants to please his people, and is as sweet as can be.
This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

05/12/2017:

Buddy is a 9.5-year-old, purebred Golden Retriever who comes to RAGOM from a suburb just outside the Twin Cities. He has only had one family, and they had become too busy to give Buddy the time and attention they knew he deserved. They lovingly surrendered him last week, and he is adjusting to our home quite nicely.

I took Buddy to his wellness exam, and he is now up to date on all vaccines and was microchipped and given his first month of heart worm preventative. Buddy weighs 79 pounds; the vet would like to see him at low 70s or high 60s. We have slowly switched his kibble as well as the amount and frequency he gets fed; we also add low-sodium green beans, which he LOVES. We walk twice a day and are working on increasing the distance.

As far as children, Buddy has had kids in his former house and does well with children of any age he encounters. I feel he would do best with 12-year-olds and up, because he is a senior, and younger children may push the boundaries of what Buddy can handle as time goes on.

He just wants to be near his people at all times (yes, he even accompanies me to the restroom). He is a true Velcro Golden. Here he is, on night one, and every night since.

Today, I have to bribe him with a cookie treat to go play in the living room.

This boy will keep you laughing with his antics, I'll have Buddy tell you more about himself:

Hi, everyPAWty. Buddy here. You'll never believe all the things I've done in the past week! FM (foster mom) gave me a bath and PAWdicure my first night here. Here, btw, is an apartment complex, where there are so many dogs to see, even one that lives in my house. He's a 14-year-old small dog. I don't mind him, and he tolerates me. I wish he would play more, but FM says he's more of a cat personality. This works out fine because FM will play any time I bring her one of the squeaky toys or a ball from a magic basket. It's endless. FM says I'm a hoot because when she seems disinterested in the toy we are currently playing with, I go over to that toy box and select a different one. One night, I emptied the whole thing. It was so fun, and it made FM laugh, so I think I'll try that again one day. FM also says I'm a young 9. I love to play and even trot while we walk. We go to the dog park that's located behind our complex. FM throws a tennis ball, and I sprint to get it, but only 3 times, and then it's just more fun to not let that ball go and play keep-away. I do take long naps after a play session, so I need a FURever home that understands my energy levels.

If you think Buddy would be a good fit in your home, please submit an "Inquiry for Application" form. If you have already filled out an "Inquiry for Application" form, please send an email to applicationatragom [dot] org with the dog's name, RAGOM number, the name you submitted the Inquiry for Application form under, and a sentence or two why you feel you'd be a good match.
