Profile

Buddy-Joe arrived at our place last night and he made himself right at home immediately.  He was greeted by my three very excited kids and loved all the attention!  I provided the last leg of his transport and he was wonderful in the car.  We saw the vet today and Buddy-Joe weighed in at a whopping 100 pounds!  He looks more like a Lab right now, due to his short summer cut and his bulky frame.  We’ll start working on shedding those extra pounds!  He came with a minor scratch on his eye that we will continue to treat with ointment.  He was a trooper at the vet's—very calm throughout the whole examination with shots and microchipping.  He is neutered and up to date on his shots.  Except for the eye scratch, he has no health concerns.

Buddy is a total love-bug—he just loves everyone!  He is 13 months old, knows some basic commands and comes when called.  He is crate-trained and housebroken.  He slept in his kennel last night and we didn’t hear a peep out of him all night.  I was starting to wonder if he barked at all, but he did bark to tell my daughter that he really, really wanted a bite of her peanut butter sandwich!  On walks he pulls some on his leash, so we’ll try the Gentle Leader next time and see if that helps.  He has lots of energy outside and on walks, but inside he likes to sprawl out near me, then come and nudge me for some petting.  Like a typical Golden, he likes to have something in his mouth all the time.  He loves his toys and everything else he finds—this morning he was waltzing around the house with a little pink purse!  It is thundering and lightning outside as I’m typing this and Buddy is unfazed by the thunder.  He perked his head up, listened and went back to sleep.  He is such a great boy!
