Hello Ragom Families: I would like you to meet Caya, she is a mixed GR w/??? not sure. Caya is around 18 months old (all her paperwork says for age is 1-2 yrs old), as Caya was found as a stray in MO, and no claimed her, so than she was send to a shelter and they were full and called Ragom. Ragom than transported them to MN with 2 other mixed breed dogs. Caya is very beautiful, very friendly and loves attention, she eats it up and she has an independent side to her also. She is up to date with all shots, she has been spayed and heartworm negative. She's weighing in at 45#, and I believe that she needs some extra weight on her bones. I will try to get more pictures to show how thin she really is.
As far as cats go I would say no home with cats. As she was cat tested in MO and did not like being in a room full of cats. We own a cat, but he does not like the dogs, so he lives in the lower level of the house with my daughter. Caya hears our cat meowing, but does not go looking for him, yet. Caya has a very high prey drive for birds, rabbits and squirrels, she has gotten 2 birds, no squirrels or rabbits yet. She knows sit and walks on a leash very nicely, she is kenneled during the day while I'm at work and at night. But her first night here she was free roam all night and no accidents. We have had no accidents period.
Caya and Missy (one of the resident dogs) did mix it up the second night here due to a food issue. But if you were as skinny as Caya you would try to get all the food in the house too. So since than Caya has been kenneled at night and during the day and she is just fine. She understands the word kennel w/treat for her.
I'm not sure what she would do around children as I only have older kids and as it gets colder families are not coming outside with their children. So we wait and see. But if you have children walking around with food in hands Caya would eat this out of their hands. She does have a very gentle mouth, would never hurt a hand feeding her. Caya is not yet chasing tennis balls, will chew on bones, no stuffed toys, loves treats of all kinds.
The perfect home that I would like for Caya is: fenced yard as she loves to run and do speed racing in circles with Ali (other resident) and due to her high prey drive for small critters. Caya has excellent name recall, except when chasing small critters. She may stop and look at you, but go look to see where that critter went thru the fence and where did it come from.
If you think that Caya is the dog for your house please contract your placement coord and we will set up time to meet. Also Caya and FM will be at Chuck n Don's in Bloomington on Sunday, October 23 from 12:30 to 2pm. Come out and meet her, you will fall in love with her.
Love from Caya, FM, Missy & Ali (resident dogs)
