Meet Charlotte, an 11-month-old Yellow Labrador Retriever (DOB 10/4/12). She is a high-energy, big puppy that is on her way to being a well-rounded dog. Charlotte is house trained and is learning to walk on a leash and listen using a Gentle Leader. She knows or is in the process of learning many commands. She came to us with a whole list she has been working on, and since we have had her, we are working on reinforcing some of the more important ones. Charlotte is somewhat of a diva and needs to learn what is OK to play with and what is off-limits, just like any other puppy.
Like I said, she is high-energy and will need a forever home that is willing to make sure she gets plenty of exercise, and consistent training. She is very smart and I would bet she would make an excellent agility or flyball dog. Charlotte loves soccer balls, tennis balls and anything else she can get in her mouth.
Charlotte came to RAGOM because she was too high-energy for the other senior dog in the household who is also starting to fail in her health. She was well loved and it was a very difficult decision to give her up. But they knew RAGOM would find a great family that will love her just as much.
Requirements for Charlotte's forever home.
- Physical fence.
- Consistent training.
- Regular exercise. Long walks, playing soccer, or fetching tennis balls.
- OK for children over 10. Charlotte still jumps as a greeting. We are working on this.
- She would do best if she is not left for 8-10 hours at a time.
We are crate training Charlotte when we are out of the house for any length of time. And she sleeps in our room either on our bed or on her dog bed next to ours. When we turn off the lights, she settles right down and sleeps through the night. She gets along fine with our 2 resident dogs and 1 other foster dog, Lucky 13-192. The youngest of the other dogs is 8, so she has more energy the the rest of them combined.
