I'd like to introduce Cloe. She is an 8-month-old purebred Golden who is one of the 133 dogs seized from a breeder in Pine River back in July. Cloe spent 6 weeks or so at the Animal Humane Society while the court case was being decided, and she has been at our house for a little over a month. All the dogs were finally signed over to the humane society two weeks ago. Most of the Goldens were adopted out via the humane society, but because some of the dogs required more socialization and care, RAGOM was able to take a number of the dogs into our rescue.
Cloe is a sweet and spunky young lady. She weighs 42 pounds. Her coat is a medium to dark golden and she has an angel’s kiss, a small outline of white, on the bridge her nose. Cloe is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped and on HW/FT preventive. She has been treated for giardia and we have taken in a follow-up fecal to confirm that has cleared. Since her treatment, she has more energy so I’m hoping that is taken care of. She is a healthy puppy.
Cloe is mostly house trained, although she will still have an accident a few times a week. I can contribute many accidents to me missing her cues. She is picking up on ringing the bells on the door to signal us. Cloe knows “sit” and we are working on “down” and “stay.” She’s a smart girl, but those impulsive puppy needs sometimes distract her. I mean, who won’t want to engage big fur-brothers in play, steal socks, eat foster mom’s garden plants, or chew her bones/toys. Chewing is a favorite. Cloe loves to run and will lap the yard very quickly over & over. She is doing much better on walks, but it is still very much a work in progress. Sudden movements and loud noise still startle her and her response is to run. We have not seen her go potty on a leash yet.
Cloe sleeps in our bed at night and is quite a cuddle bug. She really doesn’t move until we do in the morning. She is very trustworthy when tired. :) She is crated a few hours each day. This is to protect her when we can’t supervise her. She is a puppy and her curiosity and chewing could hurt her. She does NOT like her crate & barks…Do you like her use of the crate?
Cloe loves people and greets them when they visit. She knows they can’t resist loving her up. She does well with our older children and enjoys our two RAGOM Goldens very much. They have taught her much about being a dog. We do not know how she would do with cats. Since Cloe came from a commercial breeder and missed out on some important socialization, she requires another medium to large breed, well-socialized dog in her forever home; no children under the age of 10, as young kids and their sudden moves and unexpected noise will frighten her; and a fenced yard as she is still learning recall.
Cloe is the alert puppy in the middle waiting for her forever family.
