Comet arrived on Sunday evening after a long trip from his temporary foster home in Iowa. He didn't quite know what happened. He met my two guys with no problems. He even ate some dinner later that evening. He hung out with us for the evening and slept quietly in a crate all night long.

Comet is nine-years old. He weighs 96 pounds and has already been neutered. His temporary foster took him to the vet so he's all up-to-date and has no parasites, his bloodwork seems to be within normal ranges and he seems very healthy. I need to take him to the vet to get a microchip, but that's all the vet work he'll need at this time. He's a big boy and while he could probably lose a couple of pounds, he's not at all overweight. He was surrendered after nine years because his family's living situation had changed and they no longer could have a dog. He spent most of his life as a house dog, but the last couple of years he spent living outside. He has quickly adapted to life inside and has not had a single accident in my house. He is not scared of different types of flooring and he has not tried to get on any furniture, household activity doesn't phase him one bit.

Somewhere along the line, somebody gave him a crazy haircut. Goldens should not have haircuts, they can be trimmed up, but they need their coat, both to keep them warm in the winter and cool in the summer. They are not cooler when their fur is cut, but they are prone to sunburn in the summer and cold in the winter. It will take several months for Comet's coat to grow in, but judging what was not cut, he will be beautiful...in about six-months. Hopefully by the time it gets cold here, enough of his coat will have grown in to keep him warm...or he will need a jacket for this winter.

He walks wonderfully when wearing a gentle leader. He pulls like a freight train when he's only using his flat collar....so we'll use a gentle leader.

I bathed him today and I think he was purring. He loved it! He wasn't such a fan of getting his nails trim, but he allowed it....so now he smells better and he no longer clicks on the wood floors. I cleaned his ears out too. He is a super nice boy.

If you are looking for a nice adult dog, Comet just may be it....he can go to almost any living situation and so far is dog and cat approved. I'll update more as I get to know him.
