Daisey 07-177 [1]

3/30/07: Daisey has been with me since Saturday, March 24.  She is from North Dakota, and as you have probably guessed, is one of the puppy mill dogs.  A lot has happened to Daisey in the last few days, and for someone so shy and timid she has handled it like a trooper.  The first night she came home she made a run for it.  Fortunately I have a fenced in back yard so she didn't get very far.  Oh, but did she have fun running around the yard.  After spending all day traveling to get here I imagine it felt really good for her to stretch her legs.  She will definitely need to find a forever home with a fenced in yard.  In the house she is very quite and prefers to spend her time in her crate.  She does great with Mrs. Bigglesworth and PJ, the two resident cats.  She shows some interest in them but for the most part just ignores them.  She loves to get attention in the form of pets and scratches to the neck and behind the ears.  If I stop she will nudge my hand to continue.  She hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet, but will take my shoes and bring them back to her crate.  Fortunately for my budget she does not chew them!

The really great news is how well her vet exam turned out.  Daisey charmed the ladies at the clinic, and although she had her tail tucked between her legs, she walked around on her leash and explored the new surroundings allowing the staff to pet her.  During her exam she lay on the floor quietly with her head on the vet tech's lap.  The vet thinks she is about 18 months old.  Her teeth are in good shape.  Her ears are free of infestations but are very dirty, so I came home with a solution and will be cleaning them daily for a while.  She was heartworm free!  No mites, ticks, fleas, mange or parasites.  She is either just coming out of or going into heat, but the vet doesn’t think she is pregnant.

Daisey is very beautiful - her pictures do not do her justice.  As soon as the weather improves we will go outside and take a photo shoot in the surroundings Daisey likes the most, the back garden.  Thanks for visiting Daisey’s post.
