Profile
When she was eight weeks old, Daisy was purchased from a pet store by a couple that had never owned a dog - they got it for their three children. Things obviously didn't go well. Daisy spent most of her day in her crate. After four months she was taken to the local Humane Society. An older gentleman walked in on the day she was scheduled to be euthanized and, even though he wanted an older dog, he adopted Daisy; "You can't just put a purebred puppy down! That just isn't right!" he said.
He kept Daisy out on the farm in his rental home where she mostly ran free all day. Now he's lost his rental, the pup is just too exuberant for him and he needs to begin to travel in his new job. Reluctantly he surrendered Daisy to RAGOM.
On Friday she left her home and took a six-hour ride from central North Dakota to eastern Minnesota. Then she met the resident dog; the Holy Terrier. If that wasn't enough trauma she had her first, ever, veterinarian visit bright and early on Saturday morning. Just when she might have thought things were going to settle down a bit, Sunday found her at the Land o' Lakes dog show. It was all quite overwhelming. And through it all she managed to be a really good girl. For the last few days she and the resident dog have bonded, playing adventurous games, sharing the sunbeam on the chilly day and have been the picture of happiness.
The good points: she's a healthy, forty-five pound, one-year-old Golden. The Bad: she's never had any discipline nor training and she may be pregnant. We can do something about the lack of training - she's already getting pretty good at "sit" and "off". The possibility of pregnancy? We'll just have to wait on that.
