Meet Dakota. Dakota is a 5 year-old PB 66 lb. light-colored golden. Think beautiful, happy-go-lucky, energetic, protector, nap buddy and all-around great pal and that's Dakota in a nutshell. Dakota was picked up as a stray in northern Minnesota and after spending more than a month in a shelter, traveled over 500 miles to hang out with his new FM & FD and resident brother - 7 month old golden Jack. It's only been a few days, but so far every person, every dog that Dakota's met just happens to be his new best friend. He loves to play, walks super on his leash, shares his food & toys, no counter-surfing, no furniture jumping, and no inappropriate chewing. He takes his job of keeping the yard free of those pesky squirrels and rabbits VERY seriously and if he sees one on his walk, he forgets his walking manners and hold on tight. Has not been cat tested yet. We're not sure if he has been put on a tie-out before as he is not thrilled with it. Dakota has free roam of the house during the day and at night sleeps quietly in the baby-gated laundry room. The first night home we had a loud thunderstorm and we did spend some time in the basement with Dakota plastered to my side. He did settle down & sleep, but also had an accident that first night, none since. A visit to the vet and he is UTD on shots, micro-chipped, already neutered, on Frontline and has been wormed. After being a stray and sheltered, he came quite dirty, but was a very good boy for his outdoor hose bath and enjoyed being brushed. As you can see in the after-bath photo, he does need more brushing and a more nutritious diet to get him to be as beautiful as he truly can be. Dakota can go to a home with other dogs, (he does like to play & probably would need some training as he does want to dominate), but really would be a wonderful only dog guy. Probably children over ten would be best, because of his rambunctious play. So----if you want a walking or jogging buddy and/or a couch side-kick, somebody that loves to fetch, talk that puppydog talk to you at playtime; Dakota is your boy!
