Danny came into RAGOM just little over 2 weeks ago. Danny is estimated to be around 10 years of age. He was picked up by animal control on the streets of Duluth and was scheduled to be euthanized so RAGOM stepped in to help this senior boy out.
Danny was rescued in a knick of time because he is a pretty sick boy. He is very skinny as you can feel his spine and ribs. He came in as anemic, had elevated white blood count and has a severe respiratory infection that according to the vet has been going on for a long time without being treated because now they believe it MAY have turned into emphysema. He pants very heavy and has been put on prednisone for this. At this point we are not sure but it is very possible that he may have to be on this the rest of his life. He will be going in for a follow up this week to see how everything is progressing for him, and to also see if there is something else I an do to help with his breathing.
He also needs to be neutered, and possibly have a tooth extracted due to it being broke off, but this is all on hold until we can get him feeling better. His teeth are worn down and also in need to be cleaned. Besides all of his health issues he is the sweetest boy. He loves to hang right by my side all day. He follows me everywhere I go, really does not like to go outside unless you go out with him... including his potty breaks :0). Which speaking of, he is completely house trained. Even with him drinking more water due to being on the prednisone he still has not had any accidents :0).
He goes up and down stairs with no problems and walks like a perfect gentlemen on our short but sweet walks around the neighborhood. On our visit to the vet we did encounter a cat, which he just sniffed and walked away so I think it is pretty safe to say he is kitty friendly. Will send more info on his sweet pea after we see the vet for a follow up.
