Dehlie has been with us for almost 2 weeks now. She arrived the day before Christmas Eve after an all day trip up from Missouri and fit right in to our busy house. She is very well socialized and get along with all sized dogs and strangers do not bother her in the least. She will look for attention from whom ever is willing to give her some. Dehlie comes to us from an owner who raised her right. She is well-socialized to people and dogs. Having had two litters of puppies, she is lucky now to be able to retire from motherhood early. At six years of age, she is in her prime and ready to be someone's loving companion.
Dehlie does want all of the limelight and has gotten a bit snarky with our resident Golden Lacey when she thought Dehlie would like to play tug with a toy and Dehlie made it clear that was not the game for her. Although they are very willing to share the couch as you can see.

She seems to know some commands and we are working on reinforcing those good behaviors.
She has had little experiance with cars and needs encouragement getting into them.
Although Dehlie was an indoor/outdoor dog in her previous life, she is now learning to be an indoor-only dog in our home. We will say that she is pottytrained as we have not had an issue in the two weeks she has been here.
Dehlie likes to be where the people are and follows us around the house. We need to be carful with toys because she will distroy them and try to eat the spoils of her destruction.
I have no idea if she is cat freindly or not because we do not have one, we do have a 20 pound, little dog that she does not bother at all, but he has been around a lot of foster dogs in the last 5 years and holds his own.
Dehlie weights in at 80 pounds and the vet recomends 60-65 pounds for her frame size, so she will need daily exersize, she loves to run around our fenced yard and will fetch tennis balls.
What does Dehlie's ideal home look like? She does not need to live with another dog. She is good with kids over ten, we have not tested younger. And her forever family will need to commit to obediance training to channel her enegy and make her the best companion she can be.
Dehlie will be spayed on Tuesday, January 8 and will be ready to meet perspective families after that.
