Dusty 07-407 [1]

Let me introduce you to Dusty!  She is a 9 year old pure bred Golden Retriever with a St. Patrick’s Day birthday.  Dusty has a beautiful thick red coat, big brown eyes and a gorgeous smile.  She is owner surrendered from a family that had her since she was a puppy.  Dusty’s family is moving and cannot take her with them.  The lucky girl has now joined the RAGOM family of Goldens.

Dusty was into the vet this evening for the once over.  She handled the vet visit like it was a fun outing rather than a doctor’s visit.  Dr. Sven said that Dusty is a typical Golden Retriever.  She has ear infections (which he is aggressively treating), appears to have some minor skin allergies (antibiotics for those) and needs to lose about 10 pounds.  Diet and light exercise will help with that.  Dr. Sven noticed that Dusty favors her left rear leg.  His examination showed a possible old ACL injury that did not heal properly or maybe arthritis is setting in.  His thought shedding a few pounds would make Dusty more comfortable with that too.  There were good things too – Dusty’s teeth look good and her heart is very strong.  Her overall health is good.

Dusty has only been with us and our two dogs for 24 hours so we are still getting to know each other.  What we know so far is Dusty rides perfectly in the car, she takes treats very gently, she knows basic commands (sit, come, down) and loves Mc Donald hamburgers (reward for vet visit).  Foster Dad gave Dusty a bath today.  She’s very fluffy now and loves being called a pretty girl.  She certainly is that.
