Let me introduce you to Freddie! He's approximately 2 years old, from all that we know, as he came to us as a stray from Sioux Falls.
He's such a loving dog, it amazes me that someone didn't come to find him!
We got him yesterday, and here's what we know so far:
- He loves EVERYONE.
- He's very puppy-like in his energy level. Can bound up the stairs only touching half of them!
- He knows a few commands, such as sit, stay, and come.
- He weighs about 65 pounds; we will know more tomorrow when he goes to the vet to be neutered.
He didn't respond to his name very well when he came, but he's sure got it down now. He slept all night on a blanket in our bedroom, facing the door to keep us safe. He's had no accidents in the house, and responds well when we ask if he needs "outside."
I've seen NO food aggression as of yet. He takes treats so gently, he practically uses just his lips. He doesn't care who is by his food dish, ever.
He's got a few puppy-isms, such as little nips on our shirt when he wants to play. Telling him NO has worked well so far. His FD is putting the last piece of fence up this week to give him full rein of the backyard, as he is full of energy!
He's just such a great dog! He's willing to learn, and just loving having a real home to live in.
