My name is Goldie, and I have quite a story to tell. I was found, all alone in a field, with only an old abandoned truck to call my home. I had puppies many times and had a litter just prior to someone dumping me out to fend for myself. I was so very scared, and also very sick. Luckily, a very kind and caring lady spotted me and finally was able to get me to safety. She knew I was sick and took me to a vet. They were not able to provide the care that I needed, so they contacted RAGOM to see if they would help. Of course, they would.
I needed emergency surgery, so a very nice man named Scott left at 3:00am that morning to get me. My foster dad then met him and took me to a vet clinic in Rochester. I saw the vet at 11:30 and by 2:00, I was in surgery. I had endometriosis and was ravaged with infection. I spent the night at the vet clinic and then went home with my foster family.
I liked it when I saw the resident dogs. I started feeling better and learned how to go up and down steps, learned that there is glass in patio doors, learned about balls and toys and all good things in life. Two weeks after my surgery I was able to get up to date on my shots and had some tests done. I was heartworm negative (yay) and tested for Lyme disease, which was also negative. My front left paw is kind of stiff at times, and the vet thinks I have some arthritis in it. But I feel like a new girl today.
I have fallen right into the foster home routine, and they tell me they have never seen a dog as happy as me! We go on lots of walks here, and that has helped with my paw. I weigh 71 pounds and am quite the looker, I am told. I have met lots of people and greet them with a happy swinging tail. Oh yes, about my tail, I have lost almost all the hair on the underside of my tail and most of the feathering on my back legs, but it will grow back.
I also have a spot on my side where the hair is very thin. I guess probably poor nourishment, having puppies, and the horrible infection took its toll on my body. But all is good now. I know I am one lucky girl and thank all of the angels who have helped me over the last three weeks.
