Please welcome Miss Trixie into the RAGOM family. Trixie is a gorgeous, small PB female who was found as a stray in Nebraska. She arrived in MN last Saturday after her long car ride, which she wasn’t thrilled about. On Sunday we took her to the Vet when we noticed tapeworms in her stool and very dirty, infected ears. She weighs 53 lbs and the Vet thinks she is about 2 years old. Trixie received her first treatment for the worms, had her ears treated, and now is UTD and microchipped. She will be spayed next Monday.
Trixie has come a long way in the 4 days that we have had her. The lady who found her kept her tied outside and didn’t know if she was housetrained. Trixie spent her first night here in a crate, but has earned the freedom to sleep on the floor next to the bed. While we are at work, Trixie and our resident have been blocked in the kitchen. Soon she should have free roam of our house because she hasn’t chewed anything inappropriate or had any accidents!
We were told that she was afraid of men, but we haven’t seen that at all, especially when she gets fed and taken on walks by Foster Dad! Someone worked with her because she walks on a leash without pulling and knows some basic commands. She is still a little skittish with sudden movements and loud sounds. For whatever reason, she cowers and wants to run into the house when we get the tennis racket out to hit balls for our resident dog. We thought his excited barking was scaring her, until we saw the reaction to the racket. Now he chases the balls after she is back in the house.
