Hank's given name is Radar by the SO - very nice family that wanted to do the right thing and I so appreciated all they have done for Radar and his siblings. They were well socialized, loved to run and play and truely loved. When we got there all 9 pups and mom were out wandering around. The family had lots of company to love and protect these guys and they really watched the blind ones to make sure they would not wander far.
They have been wormed and vetted on the 15th of June, they will be due for the second set next week sometime. I will get Radar in to be Mircochipped than. HE IS BIG - his mom was tiny - beautiful red and maybe 50 pounds - Dad is a big block head boy - around 90 pounds so these guys could be big or small. All I know is Molly did a great job feeding them!
The three pups were brought to the Opthamologist and we were told they have very limited eye sight. The good news is each of these dogs do have some sight but it is very minimal. They can distiguish dark and light and might be able to see outlines.
Radar has been doing well so far - he has gotten a bath, eaten his lunch, pooped in the hay and met the three resident goldens with NO problems. Stevee (our blind golden) was not real sure about this, but has since fallen asleep right next to Radar, so I think all will be fine in the end.
I know lots about Blind dogs so I can give you some good information, they are no differant than any other dog, you just have to be a little more protective of them. They need training, love and consistancy and most of all, furniture and items can not be moved at a whim. :)
So are you willing to talk about this beautiful little boy? If you want to know more about blind dogs you can look at Stevee Rae's website under Happy Endings (#08-362) [2] and set up a meeting so you can meet Radar and Stevee.
See you soon!
