Meet Harley! He is a 4 month old Golden mix that was surrendered when the owner couldn't care for him. Harley has a very bad case of demodex mange. Poor little guy has lost the hair on his face due to this. But no fear--it will return! Puppies get this kind of mange when the mites are transferred from their mothers. Most puppies immune systems can fight them off but some cannot. Once the dog matures, they can fight them off so they are not contagious to healthy adult dogs--or people.
 
Little Harley is otherwise unaffected by this and is a healthy typical puppy. He is house trained as any 4 month old is which means he will have occasional accidents until his bladder is bigger. So far he has not had any and keeps his crate clean for up to 6 hours.
 
Harley is learning quickly how to 'sit' and 'come'. Puppies naturally follow people so this part is easy as a puppy. He will need obedience classes to nail the good manners we expect of our pets. Harley walks nicely on a leash but sometimes he likes to carry it :) He also rides nicely in a car. Harley is guarding his toys from me and so we are working on 'trade'.
 
Harley likes his crate and when we all head to bed he goes in without asking. In the morning, he goes in easy with a 'kennel up' and a few treats thrown in. No arguments.
