Jasmine 04-361 [1]

Jasmine is a 10 year old female who came from a shelter in Iowa. They called RAGOM to see if we would help her find a home of her own. Jasmine is spayed and UDT on her shots. She came into foster care sporting a shaved look, once her hair grows back you'll be able to see more of her golden brown coloring that she has. She has AKC papers and is microchipped already. She is slightly overweight at 78 pounds. When we went to the vet today she thought she should lose 7-10 pounds. Jasmine has a hypothyroid problem so she needs to take 2 tablets a day for meds. The vet examined Jasmine's rear legs since she has trouble getting up from lying down, and she has bad arthritis in both legs - her right side is worse than the left. After her senior blood work comes back we will start her on Rimadyl to see if that relieves her stiffness a bit. I am giving her Glucosamine which also will help her joints. She received a Bordetella shot today and her fecal came back negative. Jasmine tolerated all of this like a trooper - she is very sweet! We were told that thunderstorms make her nervous so that she becomes restless and pants, however her anxiety is not severe. But of course now it will be hard to know until next spring exactly how bad the problem is.

Jasmine is good with cats and does fine with other adult dogs. Since she is a senior, she is not interested in playing - puppies have too much energy for her and she will growl at them, so a home with young dogs or pups that want to play incessantly would not be a good fit. Along the same lines, Jasmine tires of the activity of young children and will growl at them as well. She has never shown any sign of wanting to bite animals or people and is fine when meeting young kids on a walk, it is just the constant contact with small kids that is too much for her. It would be best for Jasmine to be placed in a forever home with teenagers and up, and a home that didn't have too many stairs for her to climb. She is a very low key type of gal who is seeking a quiet place to retire and call her own. I will update more as we get to know her. She seems very easy going, and has the dearest face!
