Profile

10/25/2013:

Hello everyone, I'd like to introduce you all to the newest sweet girl in the RAGOM family. Jessie is an 8-month-old purebred Golden who is one of the 133 dogs seized from a breeder in Pine River back in July. Jessie spent 6 weeks or so at the Animal Humane Society while the court case was being decided, and she has been at my house for a little over a month. All the dogs were finally signed over to the humane society two weeks ago. Most of the Goldens were adopted out via the humane society, but because some of the dogs required more socialization and care, RAGOM was able to take a number of the dogs into our rescue.

Jessie is a beautiful, petite Golden who is a wonderful dark red in color and weighs just 40 pounds. She is thin, tall and lanky, and loves to run like the wind in my fenced backyard. Jessie is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped and on HW/FT preventive. Other than being treated for some pesky intestinal parasites, she is healthy. She is still learning about living in a house, and is a typical, active puppy. Housebreaking is a work in progress, but the accidents are getting fewer, and now that we are getting her digestive system on the right track, things are improving daily. Jessie loves to play and chew. Shoes are a huge favorite, as are towels, rugs, blankets and clothes. Jessie loves other dogs and will need at least one playful dog in her forever home. She especially loved playing with my foster, Jojee 13-179, and plays with Willow and Raven, my adopted RAGOM dogs. Wrestling and play biting are her favorite games!!

Jessie is crated while I am at work, which she in not fond of, but since she is still in the chewing phase, crating keeps her safe while I am not home. She has free roam while I am home and sleeps with the pack in the bedroom at night, often sleeping snuggled up to me for most of the night. She is social with people and has been accompanying me to work, a RAGOM board meeting and visits with friends. She likes car rides and has learned to jump in on her own. She does do best when she is with another dog for companionship and comfort. She walks well on a leash but hasn't figured out that taking a walk is something to enjoy.

Since Jessie came from a commercial breeder and missed out on some important socialization, she requires another medium to large breed, well-socialized dog in her forever home; no children under the age of 10, as young kids and their sudden moves and unexpected noise will frighten her; and a fenced yard as she is still learning her name and learning recall. She will not go potty on a leash yet. Jessie is just learning that there is a whole lot more to the world than the life she experienced in her first 7 months. She is very sweet and smart, and will make a wonderful companion for someone who can see the potential in this beautiful girl.
