7/7/07: My name is Kevo and I am estimated to be 10 years old. I've spent the last several weeks in a shelter, where I became very depressed and sad. I lost a lot of weight and a lot of muscle mass. I came into RAGOM on July 4th, Independence Day for me!! Now I'm living in a home with a big, fenced back yard and I have two canine foster sisters. If I do say so myself, I am one handsome boy. They said in the shelter that I was deaf but Foster Mom's decided that isn't true. I hear lots of stuff, including 'dinner time'!! You see, now that I'm in a home where I'm loved, my appetite has dramatically improved. Foster Mom is giving me hamburger and rice mixed with my kibble and I'm eating like a good boy should.
I went to the vet last week and I got some very bad news. This cough I have isn't kennel cough - I have cancer in my lungs. Therefore, I won't be adopted out and will instead make this my forever home. No one knows how much time I have left, but I'm not going to concern myself with that. I'm just going to be grateful that RAGOM sprung me and that I get to prance around with my head and tail held high. So far I just have occasional coughing spells, mostly when I wake up. I'm on some meds to make me comfortable and, once I get some weight back on my bones, I should be able to have a nice rest of my life.
Thank you to all the RAGOM volunteers who worked hard to get me into the program. I'm grateful and I send you all big, sloppy kisses.
