Profile

Harry has been with us for about 5 days now and we have fallen in love.  Our children ages 4, 10 & 13 have dubbed him Sir Lancelot aka Lance.  I have no idea why, but it seems to have stuck.

Harry weighs in at 35 pounds.  His mother was a 55 lb. Golden and his dad a 16 lb. Bichon Frise.  He has the golden personality, without the golden shedding.

Harry came to RAGOM without a name and will need some help getting to know his name when you adopt him.  So, the beauty of it is, you can pick a name you’ve always adored.

Harry has been such a sweetheart.  As you see, he loves our kids.  He is a typical puppy and he will run and chase them.  Sometimes his exuberance may be a little much for our 4 year old, but she has learned how to turn around, put out her hand and use a firm, deep, “no”.

After the first few days, he has ignored our birds.  He shows great interest in our guinea pigs on the opposite side of the gate, at the basement stairs and has attempted to chase our outdoor cats at every chance he gets.  I don’t know that he would hurt cats, but he would love the chase.  He also seems fond of chasing birds in the yard.  Again, I think with time and exposure, he would become indifferent, but it would definitely need some supervision.

I would also HIGHLY recommend that his new family take him through obedience class.  He seems to have a LOT of love previously, but since he didn’t have a name, I am not sure how many rules he ever had to follow.  He sometimes seems to exhibit a little bit of an “I can’t hear you” attitude.

Also, Harry would do great in a home with other dogs.  He came from a home with 2 littermates and his parents.   So he has been around dogs his whole life.  It is too early for me to tell if he would prefer dominant or submissive roommates.  Our dog is extremely submissive and they get along great.   Yet when our dog play barks (very loudly), I have seen Harry lie down immediately.

Harry was neutered yesterday and is back to his perky, lively self 24 hours later.

So, if you are looking for a “golden boy” personality in an economy size that won’t leave the “golden furballs” in your corners – this little man is perfect for you.
