Layla 08-363 [1]

This is Layla. She is a golden mix (approx 1 year old) that was found as a stray in Harlan, IA. She was scheduled to be put to sleep on the 21st but we couldn't have that, so she is now going to know the golden life with RAGOM. Layla was taken to the vet today and has been updated on all of her shots. She weighs 54.4 lbs and is a beautiful light blonde color. She does have some goop in one eye, but is now on medication to take care of that. Other than that the vet said she was in great shape. There is no history on Layla so we don't know her story, but RAGOM is now her new beginning. We are not sure if she is spayed so the vet wants to wait and see so that we don't do any surgery that isn't necessary.

We have had Layla about a day but this is what we know so far. She is smart. We started working on commands this morning and she is picking them up very quickly. I think going through obedience training will be good for her. She is good with kids (ours are 3, 6, 13) and with other dogs. We have a resident golden (Lennon), we adopted Layla's sister (Lola), and our foster Dylan 08-330 is around to give her plenty of play time. She plays like a puppy but she can also be calm.

She shows signs of never having been in a house before. She didn't like to walk through doors at first. She does well going outside and appears to be housebroken. She had never gone up stairs before, but after watching her sister go up she followed at her own pace. She plants herself when you first try to walk her on the leash, but after a minute or so she will walk just fine. She doesn't really even pull. She has not tried to counter surf or chew on inappropriate items (unlike her sister). She is a very sweet and petite golden.
