RAGOM Fans -- it's my privilege to introduce Ms. Lucy! A very sweet senior looking for a new home through no fault of her own. Since being adopted from the Humane Society almost 5 years ago, Lucy's been a loved family member. Sadly, her mom now has long term health problems that mean she can no longer adequately care for her companion. Thank you to her extended family for trusting RAGOM to find Lucy her next loving home.
Lucy is a Yellow Lab, best guess is about 9 years old. She passed her well dog vet exam, including senior blood panel, with flying colors. However, Lucy might have been loved a bit too much in the food department and needs to lose a few pounds. She was accustomed to snacking whenever hungry (free-feeding) plus the occasional handout of people food. Since those things don't happen around here (mean FM), bet she's already lost some weight just adjusting to an actual feeding schedule.
As an only dog with her own fenced yard, moving to her foster home means more adjustments for Lucy than just the dining plan. While she met my dogs nicely and with just the appropriate sniffing, I don't think she's very comfortable around them so is spending a lot of time in a crate... her safe place? She loves patting and attention and definitely has the Golden lean and head nudge mastered
Too bad the resident dogs don't believe in one-on-one time and barge in on our quiet time sending Lucy off to her crate. She's perfectly housetrained, not one accident in the house. However, she's not accustomed to leash walks or taking care of business on a tie-out. She's quickly learning the joys of walks and her leash manners have improved greatly already. As for figuring out the tie-out... not so much.
Lucy's initial wish list includes:
- fenced yard unless you're committed to taking her outside on a leash until she's bonded with you & accustomed to her new surroundings
- calm, quiet home without other dogs
- someone with lots of time for pats & cuddles
More to come as Lucy adjusts to her new life as a foster fur-butt!
