Hello Ragom families! I would like to introduce you to Luke 11-348. Luke is a 3 1/2 year old PB Golden. He is petite and very blonde by our house standards. The resident golden is 110# and very red. Luke was surrendered by a loving family that just didn't know how to deal with a few of his idiosyncrasies. His original bio indicated that he was terribly afraid of going down stairs, hoses, baths and having his nails trimmed, and that he has a tendency to pee when he is excited or frightened.
We just had Luke's vet appointment and he is UTD, HW Negative and generally a healthy 77#.
I will say that we were looking forward to our house guest for a couple of weeks. The resident golden, Bear, loves having a playmate that can match his energy. The resident senior, Buddy, tolerates Luke just fine, and Luke learned right away which of the two was going to be a playmate.
Luke has only been with us a few days, but we have already learned a few things about him:
*Luke walks fine by himself with a flat collar. I will be incorporating walks with multiple dogs in the next few days.
*Luke is willing to share his treats, toys and food.
*Luke did have a problem with excitement peeing, and he had to be carried down the stairs the first two days. However, I am happy to report that Luke has gotten over that fear and is racing up and down the stairs on his own. We will continue to watch the excitement peeing.
*Luke is very interested in critters, I have a fenced yard with a 3-4' fence and he respects that, but I think he would run if he weren't fenced or leashed.
*Luke is quite a talker, but does not bark excessively.
*Luke is a lover and when his tail wags his whole body shakes.
*Luke has had some obedience training. He knows sit, down and off.
*Luke is happy to sleep the night through on the floor next to the bed.
*Luke has earned the run of the house with the other dogs and has not chewed anything or gotten into anything that he isn't supposed to.
I am sure that we will learn more as we go along, but Luke is a lover. He has a lot of energy and will require a home that has a lot of attention for him. He would like to have a playmate, but I think he would be fine alone if he gets enough exercise.
