MADDY'S (Lily) STORY
[Current Bio]
We adopted Maddy (originally known as Lily Lynn) in October '08 and unfortunately things did not work out for this sweet girl and we have now become her fosters. She is a beautiful 2 year old, I don't remember if the original write up said she was pure breed or not, but several people have told me she does appear to be. She weighs 57lbs and has an absolutely gorgeous coat that does not need a lot of attention, although she loves being brushed and will push in front our resident dog Marley so she can be brushed first. She is very loving and knows basic commands such as sit and down and back, etc... She loves her people and absolutely adores kids, but we are still working on jumping on people so would probably not be a candidate for a home with smaller children. She is not a door dasher and has stuck around in the driveway when we take her out to get in the car. She loves to play with stuffed animals - but does tend to "kill" the squeekers, and will tear the stuffing right out of them ( I usually just shove it back in and put it away for next time). She walks very nicely on an Easy Walk harness. She is completely house broken and is crate trained. She sleeps on a dog bed on the floor in our bedroom, or sometimes just on the carpet. She does on occasion jump up on the bed to give my husband his "good morning kiss" sometimes, but gets down when told to. I am sure she would sleep on the bed if invited. She does not get on any other furniture. She is spayed and up to date on her shots and heartworm pills and has been treated with frontline. She rides perfectly in cars in a crate. She is fine with our cat, she does sometimes nose up to it just to irritate her. She is basically a great dog.
We adopted Marley who was a puppy mill dog in September and wanted another dog to help him learn how to be a dog and so adopted Maddy. The two of them get along fine, however Maddy has some dog aggression and has taken it out on Marley at times. We have successfully taken her to obedience classes at the Humane Society where she did fine, as long as she did not get too close to the other dogs. We have also taken her to a dog socialization class at the Canine Coach where she also did fine. This class was more to teach us how to introduce her to other dogs. I also had a private one on one session with a dog trainer to help me learn how to better deal with her dog aggression. All of these things have helped but we are more of an active family and in our commitment to helping Marley transition to a more well rounded dog we need to be social and it has become difficult to focus on his needs when she is snarling and barking her head off at other dogs. We discussed our options and rather than leave her home when we go to the dog park or keep her inside at the cabin we would really like to find a home that maybe doesn't want a dog to be as social and just wants more of a companion around the house. Like I said before, Maddy and Marley get along fine, however there have been occasions while taking a walk that we have come across another dog and Maddy in her panic mode has bitten Marley in the ear. We are thinking that she would probably do best in a home without any other dogs, where she can be the center of attention. If there were some magic pill we could give her to shut down her dog aggression we would do it in a heartbeat. She really is a love.
I should mention that we have been able to introduce Maddy to a couple of smaller dogs, one is an american eskimo that belongs to my niece. Maddy and he are quite good friends and love to play! We have also successfully introduced her to a Chihuahua. They didn't play but she did not growl or show any signs of aggression towards her. So I am not sure if it is just bigger dogs she has an issue with, she does bark at any unfamiliar dog no matter what size. We also recently added a new puppy to our family and Maddy is very tolerant and very gentle with him.
We have a fenced yard but have had her on a tie-out at the lake and she does fine on it.
We keep her in the crate when we are not home and she has been fine for up to about 9 hours, but usually isn't in there that long. I think she might be fine with free roam but we have not practiced that with her yet, due to the fact that she likes to carry things around and when she drops them on the floor it becomes an issue for us with our resident dog. Since he was a puppy mill dog he does not know the difference between dog toys and non-dog toys and has eaten a few things that she has dropped on the floor. For instance I had a shirt and a towel folded sitting on a chair and was busy making juice and hadn't noticed that Maddy had grabbed my shirt and sure enough Marley thought it was a fair game as it was on the floor and he ate half of my shirt!
She is a sweet, loving, playful girl that will make the right family a wonderful addition. Maddy will be going to the vet for a wellness check on July 9th.
My wish list for the perfect home for Maddy would be:
No other dogs
Cat would be fine
More rural location
Older kids would be great (over 8?)
Someone who wants a dog to hang out at home with and does not want to go to the dog park, or to be very social with other dogs.
Someone that will give her lots of love and attention.

[Initial Bio]
Hello Everyone!
I would like you to meet Lilly 08-475. Lilly is a 1 year 4 month old little girl. Born on June 3, 2007. She is currently weighs 61 lbs but needs to lose 10 lbs per the vet. We are trying good old fashion exercise right now to help, but might need to move her to a low fat food. We went to the vet on Monday the 6th, all tests came back negative. Lilly has no previous vet records so we are starting all vaccines from the beginning. Lilly has another appointment to be spayed on Monday 13th and will be fully updated on all shots then.
Lilly's previous life.................
Lilly spent most of her life with her pal Sunshine who was surrendered to RAGOM a few months prior to Lilly. Lilly stayed at her old home all by herself and had no problems being the only dog. Lilly also lived with 2 cats and a 4 year old little boy and his mom and dad. Lilly would go on walks occasionally and did go to a trainer for two weeks but they did not keep up on all the training. Lilly was surrendered due to a move and they could not have any dogs. Poor Lilly!
Lilly's Foster life......
Lilly is now being fostered with two brothers named Tucker and Louie - both are way bigger than her! Lilly is about half the size of Tucker who is your average sized golden. Lilly is very little but with lots of puppy energy. You can tell Lilly has had training before. We have had no accidents in the house - we say "Hurry go potty", she is kennel trained - just tell her "Kennel up" , she sits - "Lilly sit", she comes to her name, will shake and the big one is "Lilly leave it". Lilly is a puppy in a new house so there are so many new things for her to put in her mouth she had trouble knowing what to carry and what not to. Lilly Favorite things so far are chewing on her bones and walking. We are using a Gentle Leader to walk her and she does very very well walking (Do not tell Louie but she walked better than him!) Lilly is kenneled while we are are away and while we sleep! We keep two kennels in the house, one on the main level and one in our room so she can sleep in there. Lilly likes to sit with you and get belly rubs, wrestling with Louie, and work on her training (she gets treats). We are working on lay, stay, and baby gates.
The picture..... The top one shows her very sweet face and the second one I was trying to show her size! I might have to put her next to Tucker so you can see!
Please check back soon for update and please let us know if you are interested in offering Lilly her forever home.
