4/29/07: Madison is one of almost 40 dogs and puppies brought up from a Missouri puppy mill. She is about 3 years old and sweet as pie.

Madison spent all day Saturday riding in her crate and being shifted from one vehicle to another in order to make it to us. She finally had a well deserved bath and although she did not like the sound of the hose, she tolerated the warm bath water and bubbles pretty well.

She met all four resident dogs Saturday night with no problems and seems to really take well to my children. They are 6, 10 and 11 and she likes their size....and, of course, they keep giving her treats.

Madison is food motivated and although she won't eat from a bowl yet (typical puppy mill dog) she will take food from our hands and off the floor. She did find the water bowls and we get a big WET puddle after she drinks. She jut about puts her whole head in the bowl and laps it up until she has splashed water all over. If we are standing next to her, we'll get an unexpected bath.

The breeder described Madison as "gold" and said she was an excellent mother. For as nice as that is, she will no longer have to worry about motherhood and can now live out the rest of her days playing and enjoying life.

She is rather shy of new things but is coming around nicely. She does like to have a pat or two, loves dogs, appears to enjoy older kids and likes her crate. She likes tennis balls but doesn't know just what to do with them yet. Today, she spent her time lounging in the sun.

She sees the vet tomorrow for shots and we'll schedule her spay. She just had her last litter on March 13th, so we may have to wait a bit for that. Otherwise, we'll keep you posted. Madison is very pretty with a true Golden face. She is beautiful.
