3/26/07: Maggie has traded in the heavy puppy mill chain that had to be cut from around her neck for a bright pink collar that says, "Hey world, I'm beautiful and now I get to wear fun, pretty doggie "stuff!"

Maggie is a senior lady from the N.D. puppy mill, with a birth date of 9/9/98. She is sweet, shy, very timid, and ready to start learning about the good life. She arrived and met both of the residents without a fuss at all, despite one of them wanting to climb into the crate with her (neither of our residents has a crate so it seemed like a cool, new toy to them…complete with a cool new friend).

Maggie spent some time yesterday tethered to me as we explored the house and we went outdoors to check out her new back yard.  She is way more comfortable outside than inside, and even then hugs to the corners of the yard if she hears an unfamiliar noise. She allows gentle petting, we brushed her a little bit, and she is drinking water. Maggie will be going to the vet this evening and we will update then. She moves VERY well for a senior gal, did the stairs from the deck to the yard with no problem.

More news to follow on this gentle girl who so deserves a chance to enjoy life as a valued member of a family, instead of a number on a puppy mill roster. Can't wait to see that Golden tail wag!
