Profile

Let me introduce the one and only Margaret 08-480 (which we have shortened to Maggie)! She came into RAGOM’s care on Sunday. She came all the way from South Dakota and I want to thank all of the people who gave their time on Sunday to help bring her to us. Maggie rode wonderfully in the car from Clear Lake to Ames once I got her into the car. She is scared to get in but once she was in she just lay in the back and slept.

Maggie is adjusting to life as an indoor dog. She has done very well with potty training and has only had one accident since she came to us. She is starting to realize that we are outside to potty first and then play, and getting down to business much more quickly. She is a very sweet girl and can be very outgoing at times and very timid at others. She gets scared of new things but is learning to be brave and take everything as it comes. She will need a forever family that is willing to be patient with her and give her time to adjust

Maggie is a spayed female that is approximately a year old. She has a very beautiful medium red coat and is a very petite little girl. She is only 44lbs right now but probably needs to gain 5-10 lbs. We went to the vet for a physical on Tuesday. Maggie has a very slight heart murmur. The vet said it was very minor and should not cause her any problems. She also has a bacterial infection (a cold) which we are treating with antibiotics. She should be good as new in a week. Next week we will go back and get her boosters and get her microchipped. Maggie was very well behaved at the vet and didn’t even make a peep when they took her temperature (I know I wouldn’t have been so compliant).

Maggie is pretty laid back for the most part and loves to lounge around on the couch. Her tail is always wagging, so much so that sometimes she hits herself in the face with it. Then she gets this look on her face like “where did that come from.” It is really cute to watch! At this point we would prefer Maggie to be the only dog. She has done okay for the most part with our dog, but was very scared when she met a larger dog. Maggie does like to chew and is keeping us on our toes about leaving things lying around (when it’s on the floor it must be okay for chewing, right?) We are also starting to work on commands with Maggie, but she will definitely benefit from having her new owner take her to obedience training. More to come as we get to know this pretty little lady!
