Maverick 09-310 [1]

Please welcome Maverick, an 18 months old, 50 pound, light colored Golden Retriever. From what I understand, Maverick had a virus of some sort and lost the fur on his nose. It has never grown back. I think it makes him more attractive! People always comment on how they love his nose.

I've had Maverick about a week now, and we are getting to know each other. When I picked him up he was a very timid boy...tail between the legs, crouching down low, wouldn't take a treat and very skiddish. THEN.... upon entering my house he met my cat, Calvin and the tail began wagging and the ears perked up! Calvin was the purrrrfect cat to welcome Maverick into our home!

He is still on the timid side, but he has come out of his shell greatly. New situations are a bit difficult for him; however he does come around quickly. He enjoys playing with other dogs and he is a very sweet boy.

He does not know many commands at this time; we are working on sit and come. He is crate trained while I am not at home and he does very well. I do not crate him at night and he has been known to chew on a few things-my shoe and the eye of one of my first teddy bears! I blame myself for this one! I have been redirecting his chewing and have had no problems since.

Maverick is UTD and is at the vet as we speak, getting neutered. I will up-date you soon. He is a wonderful dog! Enjoy the pictures!
