Hi Everyone! Big Teddy Bear here… well, that’s what foster mom calls me, but my real name is Max. I’m 6-years-old and am a very mellow, trained golden. I know sit, lie down, shake and even speak! I get so excited with treats, that I’m not very good when it comes to the word stay. I have not had any accidents in the house and have been an indoor dog my whole life. Couches are the best place to take a break on and when a human is around my head goes right on their lap. I like foster mom and dad a lot and tend to follow them around. You never know when you might get a scratch on the head from them. When they scratch my back I even show them my happy dance of moving my back feet up and down because it feels so good.

Foster mom took me to the vet the other day to have the microchip put in. I’m already up-to-date on my shots and have been fixed. They said I weighed in at 70 lbs and that it was perfect for my build. Ok, so the only downside to adopting me is you’re going to have to do a little routine maintenance with my ears. I have what’s called hyperkeratosis in my one ear. It makes my ear look thick and when you lift the flap it almost looks like elephant skin. Right now, I’m being treated for an ear infection, but after that’s cleared I’m going to need my ears cleaned once a week at least even when they look good. My other issue is I have had allergies this year, but we haven’t tested to see what exactly I’m allergic to. I have stains where I’ve licked my feet, but foster mom hasn’t seen me itchy. It may be a spring/summer allergy, but we’ll just have to try some things to figure it out.

I’m looking for a home where I can get lots of love and cuddle time. I would prefer a home without young children because I’m middle age and don’t want to be yanked in every direction. My favorite toys are tennis balls, so if you have a basket with them I’d really appreciate it! I’m figuring other toys out now and they might not be so bad either. I’m a fan of walks, but I’m not a fan of a thing they call a gentle leader. I pull a little on a flat collar, but foster mom thinks I was trained with a harness and is going to try that next. I get along with other dogs, so if you have one for company that would be ok. I haven’t been tested around cats, so that part is still unknown. Please, let your placement advisor know if you want to bring me home!
