Max/Dusty 07-079 [1]

2/28/07: Max has arrived and he got here just ahead of the snow that started just now! Max is not going to stick around for too long here, he moves to his permanent foster on Saturday. He had to be moved to our house today because the good Samaritan who had him was told by animal control he had to be gone by tomorrow. He's in good hands now and is making himself right at home.

Max was born on 12/19/05 and is just over a year old. Overall he's pretty healthy. He's due for most of his shots in April of this year. He does have a vet appointment for tomorrow to check for a chip and get him one if needed. He weighs just shy of 60 pounds and is very slight. Max and resident dog Cinder met and were just fine, the usual fake poofiness from Cinder and then she wanted to wrestle him to the ground.

We just got him an hour ago, but here are his stats: he is housetrained, which we have seen. He is also crate trained and will go in there if you tell him to. He has not been left to roam about on his own and we aren't going to start that here :) He knows his name and some commands such as Sit, Down, and Shake. He's raises his paw like our old foster Blue 07-025. If he's creeping onto the couch, he responds to "off". We can take things from him without him making a fuss.

Max is a sweetheart and from the notes it sounds like he is afraid of yelling and will cringe. He's pretty submissive to Cinder and also me - "No" or "Ah ah" will get him all wriggly and squirming up to you as an apology. He was fine on a tie out here. It sounds like he is a little confused by what to do on a leash, he also pulls hard when he's on one and we haven't tried a Gentle Leader on him.
