This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Meet Murphy, he is a Chocolate Lab/Golden Retriever mix. He is 9 years old. Murphy is a returning RAGOM dog. His surrendering owners adopted him from RAGOM as a puppy however, one of the family members suffers from allergies and they had to lovingly surrender him.

Murphy is a neutered male and weighs 75 lbs. He is up to date with vaccinations and is on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. His heartworm, fecal, and Lyme tests all came back negative. Murphy does have a small lump up by his shoulder but the vet stated that it was likely a lipoma and felt that Murphy was in “good general health.”

Let me share a few things we have learned about Murphy since he has arrived here at his foster home. He loves to chew on bones! That alone could keep him busy for hours. He really enjoys going on long walks. He does pull a bit, but we are working on that and it has improved with each walk we take. We are starting to introduce the Gentle Leader as well. When Murphy needs to go outside he is pretty vocal about it. He will go to the door, turn around, stare at you, and then do this bark/talking thing.

Murphy LOVES food! Maybe a little too much. Although we have not had any counter surfing yet, the potential is there. All food needs to be put away and not left out. He also needs some work with his begging habit. He knows he is charming and has the sweetest looking face but needs to be reminded to lay down and not sit 2 inches from your face while eating. It’s a work in progress.

Even though Murphy is 9 years old you would never guess it! He gets up and down stairs great and jumping up on the couch or on foster mom and dad’s bed is NO problem. Don’t let his distinguished gray face fool you. He is a true puppy at heart. You just can’t help falling in love with this guy. He gets along great with our kids ages 7, 10, and 14. He is also starting to warm up to our resident Golden and seems to find her less annoying. I even saw them playing a friendly game of tug of war with a Wubba toy the other day.

Murphy is a true gem and would make a wonderful addition to anyone's family.
