Say Hello to Pixie! Pixie is a 2 year old, spayed female, PB Golden Retriever. She joined the RAGOM family because she was an unclaimed stray. Animal Control called RAGOM and I was off ... on my way to pick up this little angel and bring her here to Oakdale to join our family :) We don't know about her history at all. Pixie isn't talking :-)
Pixie has been here 24 hrs. and I have learned a little about this cutie: She is petite at about 50 pounds, but skinny. She has a medium golden coat, and the cutest little cowlick that starts at her eye brows and runs to the base of her nose! Pix is a velcro girl, and very sweet. She slept last night snuggled as close as she could get to me, with her head on my pillow :) She loves to snuggle on the couch and on the bed! She did have one accident in the house, but I don't think that means she isn't house trained. I will chalk that up to the stress. So, that is something we will watch closely. Pixie did just fine in the crate while I was at work today, we will slowly test her with more and more free roam as the days go on. Pixie gets along just fine with the gang here. She is shy so far, and hasn't wanted to play with our Gracie and foster brother Bearon 08-172... they can get pretty rough! It is funny because if Pixie thinks they are playing too rough she will start to bark. As soon as they settle down... she stops! We'll see if she wants to join in the play as the days go on. She pulls like a wild child on a leash! We will try the Gentle Leader and see how that goes. Pix sits, and lays down on command. She hasn't been off leash, even in our fenced yard just yet... since she is a stray I don't want her to get spooked and bolt. I have no idea if she could jump the fence..but, she could run from me and hide in the yard somewhere, and I don't want that. I want to build trust with her, so for now she goes out on a lead and does just fine. I really don't think she would run and hide since she is so velco, but I am playing it safe! Pixie is as cute as can be and I really look forward to getting to know this special girl. The only MUST, at this time, in her forever home, is a fence!
Pixie still needs to visit the vet, and I have so much more to learn. Stayed tuned! I will have much more to report as the days go on. Welcome to RAGOM Pixie! Your next home will be FOREVER! We love you already, and promise you that!
