This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

Ray (formerly called Rascal) is a purebred, neutered Golden Retriever who turns 9 years old this month. He has a calm temperament and gets along with kids, cats and other dogs. He is up-to-date on vaccinations, tested negative for heartworm, and his routine blood test for organ functions all came back normal. Several years ago, Ray lost most of his fur due to a skin infection, likely caused by living in an unclean household. The fur has grown back, but is shorter and thinner in some spots. He needs regular baths and ear cleaning to keep his skin and ears healthy.

Ray loves car rides, walks well on a leash, has good recall, likes to play with bones, balls, ropes and sticks, knows how to drop it but doesn't retrieve. He likes to give you his paw as a handshake and sits before eating. He is accustomed to sleeping at the base of the bed. He does not like being left alone for long periods of time, and in the past has resorted to eating paper, socks and other non-food items resulting in one surgery for blockage. He has never been destructive; he just needs company.

Ray is a smart, loving and quiet dog that needs a human companion that is home part of the day, and has time to provide the regular grooming, exercise and attention he needs to be a healthy, happy dog. If you would like to meet Ray, he will be at Duluth Petco for a RAGOM Meet and Greet on Sunday, May 18 from 12noon to 2pm.
