Profile

To Chris from Pam To Chris P. from Pam C., in honor of this beautiful Golden, Red!

Please welcome Red into the Ragom family.  Red was a stray in Nebraska, was taken to boarding in South Dakota where he was neutered, traveled across Minnesota, and is now living in Iowa!  Good thing he's such a good traveler!  Red is about 2 years old and full of energy!  He seems very familiar with living in a house and he has had no accidents.  He doesn't have the best manners (jumping on people, counter surfing, etc.) but we're working on those.  He does not like being in a crate at all (chewed up the plastic tray) so we're giving him free roam of the house and he's doing fine.  He's now up to date on all his shots, is heartworm negative, and has been neutered.  He was examined by a vet yesterday who determined from a stool sample that he has giardia.  So now he's on 2 different medications.  He's a tall, dark red boy who is very thin.  He only weighs 59 pounds and could stand to gain at least 15 pounds.  He eats like each meal is his last so we've started to feed him divided meals.  He's a handsome, happy lovable boy who loves, loves, loves to play with our almost 2 year old resident golden.  He carries everything in his mouth but is not destructive (i.e., my shoes).  He is a bit of an escape artist.  We've caught him going underneath our gate (he won't be able to do that when he puts on some weight!) and he moved a loose board in our fence and squeezed through.  He's pretty good at coming back but we're keeping a closer watch on this guy.  He walks great on a leash which surprised us.  Whoever adopts Red will need to provide plenty of exercise - he would be a great running partner - and teach him proper manners.  He's a quick learner and smart so he will catch on easily.
