So on Saturday morning, we had a little sweetheart arrive at our home for foster. This little peach is named Rosie.
To her surrendering family: I know it was especially difficult for you to surrender Rosie. After being here for two days, I can see why. My promise to you is we will do everything to make sure she is placed with a wonderful family and she will continue with her happy-go-lucky life and personality. You took great care of her and she is very healthy and happy....She is a gem....
Rosie was born on April 12, 2011. That makes her just over 6 months old. She is a golden mix, with what we believe is Husky or possibly Samoyed. This may explain her cream colored coat. Her coat is soooo soft and fun to pet.... Regardless of what breed she is, she is sooo sweet and loving. She is 6 months old so she is a little busy body that is inquisitive about everything and very curious.
She rides wonderfully in the car and has no problems there. She is already spayed and we will have her to the vet in the next couple days to get her all up to date and ready for her forever home.
Rosie has been on one walk with a gentle leader and she fought it some, but got used to it. I want to try her on a flat collar some though. She came here and we let her run in our fenced in back yard. I swear she did not stop running full sprints from end to end and corner to corner for 15 minutes. She loves the free space and I definitely want to find her a forever family with a fenced in yard. She is very social and will go up to any dog or person she meets. Our resident Lucy prefers slower intros so when Rosie ran up to her on the first meeting, Lucy gave her an earful and simply explained that 'I'm the Boss and this is my home". Rosie was a good listener and they have been best friends ever since. It is so fun to see Lucy playing with Rosie so much and having so much fun. Lucy is 6 so I did not think she was much into playing this hard, but she surprised me. Lucy is a great mentor and big sister for Rosie. If Rosie gets too rough or out of line, Lucy gives her a quick reminder and brings her back into check. The dynamics of the dog language and behavior is fascinating to watch.
Rosie is interested in our cat, but does not appear to have any "prey interest". If our cat runs, Rosie will follow her, but means her no harm.
We have a 2 year old toddler son. Rosie loves him and likes to give him kisses. Sometimes she knocks him over, but we just tell him to get up...
She has been through beginner obedience and does know 'sit' really well. She would really do well in pursuing additional obedience classes and it would make her an even better dog. She is very treat motivated and happy to please.
Rosie is such a happy, healthy, fun loving girl. She is 6 months so she still is a puppy. Keep this in mind.
We have had no accidents in our home and she seems to be potty trained. She sleeps in her kennel at night without a sound. She actually goes in there on her own about 9pm. Funny thing is that if we are up later than 9pm watching TV, she will come in to see us every 15 minutes or so as if to say " Can you guys go to bed too, that TV is keeping me up" She's very cute....
If you have a fenced in yard and have interest in meeting Rosie, please contact your placement advisor....
