Willow was found by a Good Samaritan as a stray on the Leech Lake Reservation in September. She came to us on 9/22 and we have been “loving her up” ever since! It took her just a few days to settle in.

Willow is Yellow Lab mix, approximately 10 years old, and in good health. She has seen the vet and is up-to-date on all of her vaccines. Willow has a bit of arthritis and is on Rimadyl. We have noticed a great improvement in her mobility since she started on this. One of her favorite things to do is to go on walks.

Willow is sweet and gentle. She has been wonderful to our resident senior Golden, Miss Belle. They curl up together for naps.

Willow loves sitting in our living room so she can look out the picture window. You can tell how much she loves the outdoors and may have spent a lot of her life outside. She will need a secure fenced-in yard. You can tell that Willow was with a loving family at some point, as she knows some commands and is so gentle when taking a treat from our hands. She gives the BEST kisses. She has not been exposed to cats or small children, so I don’t know how she would react.

Willow would do well in a home with another dog (maybe mid-senior age), maybe female, but she seems to do well with all dogs. Or, she could be an only dog. She loves to follow us everywhere indoors, but she does just fine when we leave the house for a few hours. She has not been alone yet for a full eight hours, nor has she been alone without our dog. She is a great sleeper at night.

Willow’s only issue is storm anxiety. She paces, pants, shakes, and tries to find a small space to curl up in. We have purchased a Thundershirt for her and will try it out the next time it storms. She needs to cuddle and be close to people during a storm. She did have a few accidents in the house during the thunderstorms last week. She will not go outside when it is lightning and thundering. She will not eat or drink water.

Willow is ready to meet families; however, she will not be ready for adoption until she recovers from surgery to her right eye. She suffered an unknown injury to her face some time ago, and due to the lack of treatment, the scar tissue had affected her eye. Her eyesight, however, was not affected.

Willow is a very sweet senior dog that deserves a lot of TLC.
