Ruby 05-347 [1]

10/19/05: Ruby is here with me and she is a jewel......a diamond in the rough, actually! She has been a puppy mill momma and has produced enough little gems for others to share, now it's her turn to get all polished up and shine! Ruby is extremely small for a 3 year old purebred Golden. When she was at the vet yesterday she weighed in at a whopping 37 pounds. She is a little on the light side and needs to put on about 8 pounds. Ruby is very sweet, very shy, and just needs to know that most everyone she meets from here on will give her all the love and attention she has missed the first three years of her life. She was rescued from the puppy mill by a kind angel who took Ruby into her home to begin learning how to be a much loved member of a family. Alas, because Ruby is so typical of puppy mill survivors, she does have some issues which include being nervous, but never aggressive, around the woman's 18 month old toddler. That is why this compassionate angel asked if RAGOM could find a home for Ruby that does NOT include small children. It was a very tough decision for her to make, but it was done for Ruby's sake. Ruby is house trained and crate trained. She is still learning how to walk nicely on a leash. Her first home has helped her learn many new things and they did an excellent job helping her along life's Golden path, but there is still soooo much for Ruby to experience!! When I brought Ruby home I introduced her to my Golden, Pomeranian, and Sheltie, and she loved them all. Then it was time to let all six cats meet the new family member. Again, Ruby made friends with every last one! Because of her past I really think she would do best in a home that has another dog to help her learn about her new life. She also has mild hip dysplasia in one hip. Because of her small size, her previous vet, and my vet, both believe that she will do fine for many years to come. We do have her on a supplement to help her hips stay as healthy as possible. Ruby is a very special girl, but she will not fit into most families. Her perfect family is out there somewhere and I have promised her I will do my very best to help her find them.
