Ruby (Sheridan 08-257) [1]

I renamed Sheridan Ruby, because she is such a beautiful red color, with little curls on her ears. Ruby is a purebred golden retriever, who came from a puppy mill in Iowa. She is 6 months old, and weights 28 lbs.  She most likely will remain a very petite golden.

This morning, at 6:00 a.m., as I sat outside and drank my coffee, I  watched Ruby run as fast as she could in circles, take a break and come up for some hugs, then take off full sprint again, and I couldn't help but reflect on the last seven days with her.

She came to my house exactly one week ago, so terribly afraid. She'd follow me around the house, and just watch me from around corners with big eyes that remind me of a deer. If I turned to her, she'd crouch to the ground.

She is still a bit skittish, but getting so much better.  She now knows what toys are.  She follows me everywhere. When I get a pair of socks out of my drawer, her little eyes light up so much that I just have to give her a pair too, and she walks away with them as happy as can be.  She now loves treats, being held, hugs, kisses.

A must for Ruby's new home is another dog.  Ruby will have her spay scheduled this week, and will then be ready for her new home.
