Profile

Welcome 17 week old Twig to RAGOM! Twig is a Golden mix (likely mixed with Lab) that came to us from a shelter in Iowa, where she was dropped with her 2 siblings, Doubie & Kota. Twig is a very sweet and outgoing girl, who has stolen the hearts of everyone she's met in foster care. She weighs 26 lbs, and received a clean bill of health at the vet -- yay! She is also doing fantastic on potty-training... not one accident yet in the 3 days we've had her. Of course, she is let out frequently, but definitely understands the concept of going potty outside. Twig is doing great with my 2 resident GRs, although she has yet to completely win them over (they are tough cookies with little pups), but she has done fabulously with my friend's kids, ages 4-8, and showed no signs of being timid or unsocialized. She is adjusting well to walking on a Gentle Leader, and also loves to ride in the car. The only thing we've found that she isn't particularly fond of is her crate (although treat-filled kongs are a BIG help). She is known to be vocal when she doesn't want to be confined, but we are working on it. She does settle down and sleep in her crate overnight, right next to my bed. If I didn't have a grouchy, resident bed hog, I think she would do great sleeping in bed with us! Twig is a pretty confident pup, with a sassy side. Given her demeanor, and vocal nature, we've decided to call her Sassy (or Sassy Twig), in tribute to a former foster of mine, who went to the Rainbow Bridge just yesterday. Sassy #1 was a special girl, who really helped to break my first resident into the world of fostering, and was later adopted by 2 wonderful people, now also very involved RAGOM volunteers. We miss her terribly, and hope that Sassy Twig will be inspired to live up to her name. Stay tuned for more on this sweet and sassy girl.
