10/10/05: Hi, everyone. I'm Saber, and I'm new to RAGOM. I was found when I wandered into a nice lady's yard. She fed me for a few days and helped me look for my owners. When we didn't find them, she called RAGOM to take care of me since I'm a Golden/Lab mix. Thank you, Barbara, for helping me get to RAGOM! Once I got here, I met 3 other dogs. Most of them were very nice, but that Duke (05-313) just wouldn't leave me alone! Finally, mom told him to back off and finally I got a chance to rest. My paws are so tired from walking, I was happy just to flop on the floor at mom's feet. Oh, in case you're wondering, Duke finally got his fill of following me around and now we're friends.

Last night I slept in a nice soft kennel, but that's really not my thing, so at 4:00 (yes, A.M.) I let the family know, in no uncertain terms, that I wanted out for once and for all. Mom kept telling it was just until I could visit the vet, then I could sleep with everyone else. So today we piled in the car and went to that vet place. The people there were very nice, although they kept picking at me. I heard someone mention ticks, but I don't know what those are. They were pretty sure they got all of them off, so I think they're done picking for now. I got a bunch of shots and something called a microchip (that's so I'll never have to be a stray again!). I have a neuter scheduled for Thursday; I guess they shave your belly for that... not so sure I like that idea, but I don't think I have much of a choice in the matter. The greatest news is that even though I've been a stray, I don't have heartworms or Lyme's disease... mom says that's fabulous for me, because it means I can start looking for a new family straight away. Oh, I should also mention I weigh 60 pounds, but the vet thought I should gain a few pounds cuz all my ribs show. That's what happens when you walk so much.

If you're interested in a snuggle bug of a boy dog, I'm that boy. I am very well behaved and pretty quiet (except if you stick me in a kennel and expect me to sleep there). I love to have my tummy and my chin scratched... if you did that all day I'd love it! Kids are cool, because they like to pay attention to me. Cats are also cool. I saw a cute one at the vet today and I think she had a small crush on me...

If you'd like to meet me, please email placement @ragom.org right away... I don't want to wait for you forever!!
