Please welcome Sammy to the RAGOM family. Sammy is a beautiful senior gal who needed more attention and care than her family could provide. But now, she’s in the loving hands of her new RAGOM foster family and learning to love life again.
Sammy is 9 years old and is a very gentle, loving girl. She’s got a light golden coat and her face is all white which is quite endearing. Her only physical problem at the moment is that she has a round cell tumor on her hip that is open and was badly infected and needed treatment. She has been with us 3 weeks now and has been on antibiotics for several weeks to control her infection. We will be scheduling her surgery to have the tumor removed soon. Luckily, Sammy’s tumor should be easy to remove and not cause her trouble down the road.
We have discovered that Sammy loves to swim more than anything else in the world. She doesn’t particularly like to fetch a ball on land, but throw that ball into the water and you’ll have a retriever for hours on end! Despite her age, she is quite happy to run and play. She is a bit gangly with long legs that splay out in all directions when she runs…much like a young uncoordinated puppy. But, we chalk this up to her long legs and huge paws and the exuberance at having all that field to run in….finally!
She loves her food and has been a very polite gal in the house. She’s not a destructive girl with her toys. But, she’s learning how to play with her new foster sister and her foster humans….more on this wonderful gal later!
