2/23/06: Shadow has arrived in Marion, Iowa! He was relinquished by his owner who could not keep him when he moved. Shadow is a big, beautiful light colored Golden that is possibly a mix - but all Golden in personality. He is about 7 years old and will be neutered and up to date as of tomorrow. He's had a bath and been brushed and looks so nice! He didn't want his toenails clipped so we'll ask the vet to do that while he is under for his neuter.

Shadow is really well mannered. He met all four of our resident dogs and handled that stress like a trooper. No growling, no big deal. He is good with my kids thus far and very much enjoys treats. He sits, shakes, speaks and lays down on command. He'll give you a big sloppy kiss if you ask!! He doesn't appear to care much for his name at this point. In the backyard, he ignored me when I called him. He slept very quietly in his crate last night and has gone for two long walks. He is good on the lead except he marks everything he sees. He is strong, so when he wants to "go" he pulls. Other than that, it appears he's spent some time on the leash. He played outside in the yard this morning for over an hour with the other dogs and they played an intense game of peekaboo, pee on a tree, peekaboo, pee on a tree. They were all too funny. When he had enough and wanted to come in, he barked at the door. Very smart!

Shadow appears to have some soreness and stiffness in his hind legs. It is most notable when he is coming up the steps. I'll ask the vet about that tomorrow. Otherwise, he is handsome, sweet and will be ready for his forever home very soon.
