Shadow (Shane 10-298) [1]

Shane is a handsome, smaller (53#) medium-colored male golden and is in the process of going through quite a transformation in his foster home, whether he knew it or not (actually, he had no idea!) when he arrived here on 10/18/10. The first order of business was to get him to the vet. The next order of business once he gets home on 10/21 will be to put a little more weight on him, especially since he will lose just a little more during the neutering process!

Shane comes to RAGOM from an owner who had him for 1-1/2 years. They had rescued him from the local animal shelter, so his exact age is unknown, but estimated to be 5-6 years old. Shane was adopted to be a companion/therapy dog for a 10 year-old son with autism. Shane was not able to adapt to apartment style living, however, and preferred being outdoors instead, where he was a perfect play companion.  So far, so good, at his foster home, but he did spend a lot of time panting and pacing his first day here, but that is normal for most new fosters. Shane now has a TOTALLY new different story as he becomes familiar with the world of RAGOM and the company of three other dogs, four more cats, new feeding times, new dog food, and a couple more humans to deal with every day. Oh, and I forgot to tell him about seeing the vet for a physical, full complement of shots, heartworm and flea/tick treatment, nail clipping, neutering, micro-chipping, and whatever else may be needed. Thank you RAGOM, for of all these wonderful and good things a dog needs to have! The adoption fee is used to help cover these types of expenses, but the vet bills are usually more than that in these initial stages. Contributions for the cause are always welcome. Once Shane returns to 'the herd", we will give you more updates. We can tell you, however, he adapted quickly to the Gentle Leader on his first day and is now a perfect walking dog when by himself. He is still a bit enamored and distracted with his fosters when on a group walk. He will figure that out for sure in short order because he appears to be a very smart dog. It will be fun to have him back in two days to see how he does with all these new things with his "new attitude"!
